You will be returned to this page where you can \ check that the options are correct and then follow the close link. save.choices.warning=Options on this page affect all messaging rooms in the \ web site. recommended.settings.audible=Select recommended settings for audible browsers recommended.settings.graphical=Select recommended settings for graphical \ browsers default.settings.old=Select default settings for old interface user.interface=User Interface user.interface.text=The old style interface works a little like Windows \ explorer because it presents you with a branching index of messages in the \ left-hand frame and when you select a message heading the text appears in the \ right-hand frame. This old interface can be difficult to use with audible \ browsers such as Jaws because the message index can become complex and \ branching. The new style interface shows a simplified index of messages. The \ index of threads and the indices of messages in each thread are separated into \ separate pages which you navigate through by clicking on the headings. When \ you want to read a message you select a link and the text appears in the same \ frame with a link to return to the index. The new interface is recommended for \ users of audible browsers such as Jaws. old.style.interface=Old style interface new.style.interface=New Style interface allow.multiple.expanding=Allow multiple expanding and collapsing branches multiple.expanding.text=If you switch this option on small plus and minus \ icons are shown in the threaded index of messages allowing you to choose which \ threads to open and close. This works in a similar way to Windows explorer. If \ you are used to using this kind of interface you may find it very useful but \ on the other hand it could just cause confusion. Users of audible browsers are \ recommended to not use this option because it may result in complex \ two-dimensional diagrams of multiple threads and their messages which are \ difficult to navigate through. allow.multiple.branches=Allow multiple branches deny.multiple.branches=Do not allow multiple branches number.indexed.messages=Number the messages in the index number.indexed.text=This option is only recommended for users of audible \ browsers. When switched on, a number will precede each message heading in the \ indices of messages. This means that if you jump large distances through the \ index page you can quickly get an idea of how far you have jumped and whether \ you need to go up or down to find a message you know the number of. Most users \ do not need this option because they can make use of a visual check of the \ scroll bar in their browser. In both interface styles the message titles in \ the index are formatted as HTML headings which means you can jump forward and \ backwards from message to message using the heading navigation feature of an \ audible browser. Some of the other options on this page allow you to choose \ what information will be included in message titles to help you navigate. allow.number.messages=Number the messages deny.number.messages=Do not number the messages date.message.heading=Put date in message heading date.message.text=This option is recommended for users of audible browsers. \ When switched on, a date will appear in message titles in the indices. If you \ use an audible browser this may help you to skip over old messages more \ easily. If the option is switched off the date will appear under the message \ title. The date shown will be the date the message was posted unless the \ message is the start of a thread in which case the date of the most recent \ reply will be shown. allow.message.date=Message date in the message title allow.date.under=Message date under messsage title date.style=Date style date.style.text=This option determines the style for dates in the index of \ messages. Most users will prefer short style dates because they take up less \ space on the page but users of audible browsers may prefer long format dates \ because they are more likely to be read correctly than short format dates. short.style.dates=Short style dates medium.style.dates=Medium style dates long.style.dates=Long style dates allow.message.author=Put author in message heading message.author.text=This option is recommended for users of audible browsers. \ When switched on, the name of the author of the message will appear in message \ titles in the indices. If you use an audible browser this may help you orient \ yourself in the index. If the option is switched off the author's name will \ appear under the message title. author.name.message=Author name in message title. author.name.under=Author name under message title. allow.index.links=Put link to other indices in message heading index.links.text=This option only applies if you choose the new interface. In \ the new interface not all messages are displayed at once - instead you view an \ index of threads in the messaging room or an index of messages in a selected \ thread or sub-thread. So, the index has links that allow you to navigate \ through these indices. The link is via the small icon that precedes the \ message heading but users of audible browsers can use this option to add a \ link at the end of the message heading so they can access the link more easily \ when jumping from heading to heading. index.link.message=Index link in the message title deny.index.link=No index link in heading allow.sub-threads=Allow sub-threads sub-threads.text=When one of the messages in a thread branches off into a \ related topic and has its own set of replies that is a sub-thread. Many users \ find sub-threads confusing and so you can only create them if you select this \ option. Even with this option selected, please consider the other users of the \ messaging room before you create each sub-thread. allow.create.sub-threads=Allow creation of new sub-threads. deny.create.sub-threads=Do not allow creation of new sub-threads. jump.specific.message=Jump back to specific message jump.specific.text=This option only applies to the new user interface. When \ you follow a link from the message index to a page specific to one of the \ messages there will be a link to return to the index page. This option will \ automatically scroll you to the message title corresponding to the link you \ previously followed. With the option switched off you will go back to the top \ of the index page. allow.jump.specific=Jump to specific message when returning to index. jump.to.top=Jump to top of page when returning to index. login.to.choose=You can not choose options unless you log in. save.choices=Save Choices close=Close
