This form will allow you to post entries on the logs of multiple students
by preparing a data file and uploading it. Entries will be made under this heading;
Instruction on the use of this form are given below.
This functionality is intended for use in conjunction with your own database or
spreadsheet program. This is only feasible if you are experienced in the use of such
software or can get the appropriate assistance. You use data in your computer to
generate a personalised or customised entry for each of a number of users and
save this text to a file. The file is uploaded to the log book where you can
review the entries before finally posting them. Please take note of the
following points;
- The input file must be a comma separated value file (CSV) such as that
produced by Microsoft Excel.
- The character encoding of the file must be 7bit ASCII or Unicode UTF-8.
- There must be two fields in each record of the file. The first field must be the
@Bodington@ ID number of the user and the second field must be the text that
is to be posted on that user's log. (You can obtain a list of @Bodington@ ID numbers
using an appropriate search specification in the User Directory tool in @Bodington@.
These can then be used in your database.)
- Text fields that contain line breaks or commas or quotes must be given
in double quotes. A double quote that is part of the field should be entered as
a pair of double quotes.
- If you wish to use HTML in the text of the entry make sure you put the
<html> tag as the first part of the text. Take care to use well formed and
valid HTML.
- If you use Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic etc. make sure the file
is saved using UTF-8 encoding.
- In the page that follows you will get a chance to review the entries that you
intend to post. Make sure you check the entries carefully because once posted
you will not be able to un-post them. If you post entries with incorrect text, close
off access to the logbook - you will be able to edit the entry on each individual
student's log one by one and then reopen access for the students.
- It is not possible to post to a student's log if that log is currently closed.
You will be warned if you have specified a student who's log is closed on the
next page.
You don't have mark level access and so you can't make new entries.
